I am no longer actively blogging on this website.
Last week I was talking to a friend of mine who works for Trinity Mirror newspapers. He was telling me how he sees video becoming increasingly important on news sites – and I was agreeing with him, saying I can’t believe more websites in general aren’t adopting video – then I asked if there was any scope to do a video feature relating to my company…
My friend asked if we had anything newsworthy of note and I mentioned that ReAgent had just become a sponsor of the Bloodhound Project. In short, we are supplying chemicals to a project which aims to break the land speed record and drive a car in excess of 1,000 mph. We are providing the chemicals free of charge, in return for which we get to publicize our involvement, plus we will get invited to various corporate events and (hopefully) get to see the car.
We arranged for a photographer to visit me at work to grab some shots and record a short video. You can view the full story on the Runcorn and Widnes Weekly News website. This is the local newspaper where my company is based and for about a day we were featured on the home page, which was pretty cool, along with being in the physical paper. We are also on the Chester Chronicle Website and in another local paper called Frodsham and Helsby News.
This has got me thinking; I’m going to put some resource into gathering a group of contacts to send press releases to whenever my company has something newsworthy to say – it will help raise the profile of my business. We are currently renovating our factory, installing new equipment and creating new capabilities, such as a clean room. When it’s all done it would be worth getting some journalists down.
Anyway, you can view the corresponding video below – it was all done in one take so it’s not exactly my finest speech!
